About Lisa Keene

My personal mission is to become my best self and to help others become theirs through a string of Life Moments.

The key message points that I want people to understand about me are:

  1. I teach because I love to learn. I spent the past two decades working with high school student storytellers. My passion is to help teens find their voices and encourage them to consider all sides of an issue before creating content to entertain, inform, or persuade others. I am also fascinated with the advancements in AI as applied to education and future career opportunities. I encourage students to use their powers to work more efficiently as they strive to make the world better.
  2. My students consistently earn state and national awards because they have fun sharing Life Moments while working toward their goals.
  3. I am a radiant being filled with Light and Love, and I help others recognize that they are too. As a lifelong searcher for God, health, creativity, love, wealth, and happiness, my quest usually involves a book, a friend, a body of water, a cookie, a glass of wine, or any combination thereof.

I began teaching in Northwest Indiana at Crown Point High School in 2011. I am grateful for this time to teach and learn with my daughters Vivian (17) and Lucy (16). My husband Darren appreciates our additional “home school” lessons that involve cooking, baking, painting, and spring cleanup in our big, beautiful yard. Our dogs Cesar and Gus are super-duper excited that at least one of us is frequently home to love them.

I am laying the groundwork for my next adventure. While I have carefully orchestrated my life to be able to spend time with Vivian and Lucy as their yearbook adviser and speech/debate coach, once they are done at CPHS I plan to make Life Moments my full-time endeavor.

I incorporated Life Moments in 2008 as a public relations LLC, so I have added writing, publishing, seminars, retreats, and e-learning opportunities. My company and I evolved through a course I took called Personal Branding with Dr. Debra Davenport, CEO of Brand Urbanity and The Davenport Institute. This was my favorite course in my Masters in Communication Program through the Brian Lamb School of Communication at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.

My vision is for Life Moments to eventually be headquartered at a Center in Sedona, Arizona where my husband and I own and operate a huge bed and breakfast with an outdoor pool, jacuzzi, bar, pole barn, and smaller cottages. We will host retreats on subjects including physical and spiritual health, writing, family connections, cookie decorating, sign painting, life coaching and motorcycle maintenance. We also host occasional weddings, family reunions and business retreats. We will definitely need people to help us run it, but my husband and I will enjoy overseeing the daily operations and interacting with the guests.

I’m hoping that my experience creating curriculum, merging a diverse group of people into a community, and celebrating success will help me provide my clients with experiences they consider some of their best Life Moments. I am naturally hospitable and always cook for an army, my husband can fix anything, and I have a genuine desire to help people and make them happy. I love to hear peoples’ stories and help them plan their next steps.

The key message points that I want people to understand about me are:

  1. I teach because I love to learn. I spent the past two decades working with high school student journalists before adding speech and debate as another avenue to help teens find their voices and to encourage them to consider all sides of an issue before telling a story, informing, or persuading others.
  2. My students consistently earn state and national awards because they have fun sharing Life Moments while working toward their goals.

During this Covid-19 pandemic, I am grateful to be safe at home, teaching and learning with my daughters Vivian (12) and Lucy (11). My husband Darren appreciates our additional “home school” lessons that involve cooking, baking, painting, and spring cleanup in our big, beautiful yard. Our dogs Cesar and Moo are super-duper excited that we are home 24/7 to love them, and our cat Abner is still annoyed.
